Does ChatGPT Plus Include GPT-6 Astra? Access and Troubleshooting

ChatGPT Plus includes GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex, not GPT-6 Pro in Chat. Check missing-model errors, client updates and account access.

Yes. ChatGPT Plus includes GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex, but not GPT-6 Pro in ordinary Chat. If Astra is missing, check the interface, account and client before changing your subscription. Access can still depend on rollout and workspace permissions, and included Astra usage is limited.

Use the interface table to find the right entry point, or jump to the Codex unsupported-model error.

Where should Plus users look for Astra?

The official Work and Codex guide distinguishes GPT-6 Pro in Chat from Astra in Work and Codex.

Ordinary ChatGPT-6 Pro is not included on PlusSwitching the Chat model picker does not establish Work/Codex access
WorkIncluded, with limited Astra usageAccount rollout and workspace permissions
CodexIncluded, with limited Astra usageClient version, account and sign-in method

Work and Codex share a usage allowance. The official usage guide explains why access to a model and remaining usage are different questions. A screenshot from another account does not establish which options your own account should display.

GPT-6 Pro is a model option; ChatGPT Pro is a subscription plan. When searching for help, specify “Plus + Work” or “Pro + Chat” so that the answer addresses the interface you actually use.

Switch between Chat, Work and Codex on desktop

The official Work and Codex guide describes a top-level ChatGPT/Codex selector. Within ChatGPT, check the Chat/Work switch.

  1. Confirm that you are signed into the account that holds the subscription. Record whether you are in a personal or team workspace.
  2. Find the ChatGPT/Codex selector at the top of the desktop app.
  3. Within ChatGPT, check whether you are in Chat or Work. If Work itself is missing, continue with the version and rollout checks.
  4. Inspect model options in that interface. The Chat model menu does not establish whether Work or Codex has access.

Choose the interface around the task: Work for a report or spreadsheet, Codex for repository changes and tests. Then check the plan entitlement for that interface.

What if the account and interface are correct?

Rollout and workspace permissions can still affect visibility. To use Astra in Codex CLI, run version 0.153.0 or later. Update the desktop app separately if you use it. CLI users can inspect the version with this read-only command:

codex --version

On desktop, check Menu → Check for Updates, then fully quit and reopen the app. Check for updates once more: the official usage guide notes that another update may be needed. If the terminal still reports an older version, identify the installation you are launching before repeatedly reinstalling.

This is a troubleshooting sequence, not a diagnosis of a specific account. Record the interface, account, workspace, time and exact message. Those details are more useful than an unexplained screenshot of a disabled menu.

Why does Codex say GPT-6 Astra is not supported?

If you see this message, start by checking the account and client handling the request:

The ‘gpt-6-astra’ model is not supported when using Codex with a ChatGPT account.

The message alone does not establish a single cause or mean that every Plus account lacks Astra access. The official guide includes Plus access in Codex, subject to the conditions above. Use these checks to narrow down your case:

  1. Check the client version. Run codex --version if the error comes from the CLI. The documented minimum for Astra is 0.153.0. For the desktop app, use its own update menu; updating a CLI installation is not the same as updating the desktop app.
  2. Confirm the account and workspace. Check that this is the subscribed account you intended to use. A team workspace may have different model permissions from your personal workspace.
  3. Check how this client is signed in. ChatGPT sign-in and an API key use different access and billing paths. A working API request does not establish that the ChatGPT session has the same model access.
  4. Check the model selection in the affected client. Record what the interface offers and the exact requested model. If you previously changed a model setting manually, compare it with the choices currently available to that account rather than repeatedly forcing the same value.
  5. Keep a useful error record. If the issue persists, save the exact message, time, client version and affected interface. Remove API keys and other secrets before sharing diagnostic details with support.

These are diagnostic checks, not a tested fix for every account. If your error instead concerns an API model ID, endpoint or provider route, use the Astra API model-not-found guide. If Astra is selectable but your allowance is exhausted, continue to the usage and reset guide.

Can credits or an API key unlock access?

The official Work/Codex guide describes credits as an option for additional usage. It separately ties model access to the account and workspace. Check access before buying additional usage; a purchase is not a missing-model troubleshooting step.

API access has its own provider, key, model ID and bill. If your goal is to integrate Astra into software, read the API pricing examples and coding-agent setup. The Ofox model page concerns API access; it does not supply ChatGPT subscription entitlements.

If the model is already visible but you cannot continue, use the GPT-6 Pro and Codex limit/reset guide. Establish the interface and access first, then investigate usage before choosing another payment path.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can ChatGPT Plus use GPT-6 Astra?
Yes. Plus includes GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex with limited usage, but not GPT-6 Pro in ordinary Chat. Account rollout and workspace permissions can still affect access.
Are GPT-6 Pro and ChatGPT Pro the same?
No. GPT-6 Pro is an Astra-powered model option in ChatGPT; ChatGPT Pro is a subscription plan. Check both your plan and the interface.
Will updating the client always reveal Astra?
No. Codex CLI must be at least 0.153.0 and the desktop app should be current, but account rollout and workspace permissions still apply.
Should I buy credits if Astra is missing?
First check model access, the account, workspace and client. The official guide describes credits as additional usage, so do not treat a purchase as a fix for a missing model.
Why does Codex say GPT-6 Astra is not supported with a ChatGPT account?
The message alone does not identify one cause. Check the client version, signed-in account, workspace permissions, sign-in method and selected model. These checks do not guarantee access for an individual account.
Why does the API work while ChatGPT has no Astra?
API access and ChatGPT use different entitlement and billing paths. A successful API request establishes access for that key and provider, not for a ChatGPT interface.
